Darlington cross country

The organised club run today was a cross country at Darlington. There was a 6km run or a 12km handicap run. I did the 6km. (Just out of curiosity, my handicap for the 12km would have been 25 minutes - the highest possible. It wouldn't have been enough!) I managed to finish today in about 48 minutes which I'm really pleased about since it was pretty hilly and rough underfoot in parts. I thought it was very hard, however, and I struggled. A nice feeling to struggle through 6km in 48 minutes especially since my first 6km in Karratha was close to an hour!!

I dragged hubby along again - he was not pleased but came reluctantly. He finished about a minute behind me, but walked most of it. That's not fair, I reckon. Sigh.

Pretty good week for me - 32 km. I'm starting to feel good too.

Can't complain with a 12 minute improvement, especially running in hilly conditions. Good stuff.

32km is a heck of a lot for one week. I can see I'm going to have to start pulling my finger out.

Yeah, cross country is much tougher, but so much fun :-)

Am so pleased you are keeping up the club runs, congrats on the big time improvement, and on a XC course as well.

Great week too.

That sound challenging, do you find you loose weight as you go?
I am (still) considering to start running mainly to increase weight loss, gyming twice week is not enough any longer and I've reached a plato :(

Thanks so much for your encouragement!

I hope you are really enjoying your running and getting some "soul" out of it.

Enjoy it mostly and whatever you want from it will come more and more in time.

Best wishes for your future.

Gee Celeste, just catching up and all your talk of club runs, x-country, negative splits, striding out, crossing the line ahead of Bob and maybe running all of the Bunbury half has me sending you virtual high fives! Its so fantastic to hear you not only so enthusiastic (you always are) but really getting into your running and taking it so seriously. Thats whats bringing the positive improvements. And Bob sounds like a total gem, as does the rest of the running club! I'm so pleased.

You are doing the right thing by easing back a little after those longer runs and a bigger week - don't fall into the trap of thinking you have to go longer every time and realise that some days, even shorter slower runs will feel harder and you'll wonder what the hells gone wrong! Its normal.

Believe me, if the "skinny fit girl in the all latest running gear" knew how far you've come, she'd be really impressed! I sure am and no matter what fitness level we are at or what shape or size we may be, we all have our share of struggles, our hard runs, our self-doubts... And we all need encouragement and reassurance.

Thanks so much for all of your comments my way. I know some of the things I say about my pace must sound crazy to you, but remember, its all relative and we are all working at the same thing, just on different levels.
I am just as in awe of you.

Glad to hear hubby got home safely, those cyclone maps sure are impressive, in a scary way!

MAR. :-)

Keep it going but on the road. Don't let 2P get you on the trails
we may never get you back.
